Tibetan Hand Painted Deity Thangka 48" x 59" DESCRIPTION Up for auction is an Antique 17th Century Tibetan Deity Hand Painted Thangka. You are viewing a one-of-a-kind, hand made and hand painted Tibetan Thankga, circa 17th century. Thangkas are Buddhist banners which were hung in a monastery or family altar and occasionally carried by monks in ceremonial processions. In monasteries, these thangkas served as important teaching tools when depicting the life (lives) of the Buddha, describing historical events concerning important Lamas, or retelling myths associated with other deities. This particular piece was most likely painted using natural vegetable colors. Measures approximately 47.5" x 59". Thangka is in good condition considering age! Thangka has some cracking in paint and fading which is natural with age. True collectors would appreciate the beauty, craftsmanship and VALUE of this antique 17th century thangka.
