Description
alley-antiques Store WE SHIP WORLDWIDE. EMAIL FOR A SHIPPING QUOTE IF OUTSIDE THE CONTINENTAL US. Seller: Alley-Antiques DESCRIPTION: Our opening bid is our reserve. Classical Furniture. Fabulous 1830 s American mahogany carved pillar / splat shelf clock with weight driven 30 hour wooden works movement. This large carved case clock was made by E. Thayer & Co., in Williamsburgh, Massachusetts in the 1830's. The case is made of mahogany and highly figured mahogany veneer. Carved acanthus leaf columns and eagle splat. Hairy paw feet. Nicely carved finails. The carving is nice and detailed. The clock was fully restored in 1990. The case has been refinished. The lower mirror and top glass appear period and possibly original. The center glass tablet of the eagle is a replacement. Wooden painted dial is in very good condition considering its age. Has a 30 hour wooden works movement in working condition. Strikes on the hour. Please keep in mind, that I CANNOT guarantee running condition or accuracy after being shipped. You might have to adjust the clock after it arrives, but it is working at this time. When the clock was restored they replace the bell with a wire gong, but I do have the bell and will ship it with the clock. The label is dark but readable. Age appropriate imperfections. Comes with period weights and pendulum. I also have a winding crank. The clock measures 38 1/2" tall and 18 1/2" wide. Wonderful and very collectible early American shelf clock. BID WITH CONFIDENCE .
