Description
On offer, one large cup standing 1 3/4" or 4.5cm tall & 3 1/4" or 8.2cm in diameter & covered on the outside with a Batavia, "cafe au lait" glaze, the inside decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with a motif of fighting cocks in a garden. Export ware of this type was very popular during the early reigns of the Qing dynasty, this cup is from an unidentified shipwreck but similar pieces were also found on the "Ca Mau" wreck, hence the Kangxi/Yongzheng attribution, (circa 1710-1730) This cup despite being salvaged is in very good condition with only slight glaze degradation. Shipping for this cup which is offered with no reserve price will be $20.00 worldwide.
