Description
Circa 1840 (Edo) Imari Gokumitsu, Gara-Nishikide-Futa-Mono. 9”x 6” H. This is a spectacular Japanese Imari porcelain covered bowl that is more than 150 years old! The cover features a wonderful array of beautiful Imari colors used at that time. The top center of the bowl cover has a lovely pattern highlighted in gold as well as beautifully colored flowers, vines, and leaves in the center in gold, orange, green, purple, and reds. The remainder of the cover has three sets of swirling panels in blues and gold. Also, there are three alternating panels of colorful birds of paradise in the trees. The outside rim has a blue circular pattern while the lower portion of the bowl has 3 light blue and green scenes of a fish swimming among the weeds. The stand has an attractive repeating blue design which could symbolize waves or water. This bowl is in absolute mint condition with no cracks, chips, hairlines, or restorations. It shows no wear whatsoever for such an old piece. You’ll love it! Check out my other items! Be sure to add me to your favorites list!
