This auction is for a "Small Bronze Group of a Dharmapala with Consort, Tibetan, First Half of 19th Century"This piece #31 is part of a large estate and has been appraised by Erica Voogd-Phillips Appraisals, A.S.A.Senior Member, American Society of Appraisers, Specialist in Asian Art and her appraisal is: "The demon treading on recumbent figure on an oval reticulated lotus base, clasping the shakti in his principal hands and the four secondary arms outstretched, the hands holding emblems, well cast hair ornaments and face. Height: 6 inches. Condition: good.""Dharmapala: The Defenders of the Law of Buddhism. They are also called the "Eight Terrible Ones" and are generally angary or ferocious in aspect in order to inspire evil spirits or sinners with fear."
