Description
“Doucai” cup with roosters, hens, chickens and garden landscape motifs (Ming Cheng Hua mark). This short and wide-mouth Chinese “Doucai” glazed cup was hand-painted with roosters, hens, chickens and rock landscape decorations. The famous “Doucai” glaze – blue and white under-glaze and color over-glaze – birds and landscape were painted with classical simplicity. The whole cup, inside and outside, is covered with a beautiful and subtle transparent layer of light green glaze. On the bottom of the cup is the mark of “ Ming Cheng Hua”. “Cheng Hua” of the Ming Dynasty was the period of 1465 – 1487 A.D. "Doucai" is a technique in applying glaze and was first developed in the Ming Dynasty and became mature during the "Cheng Hua" time. "Doucai" porcelain works of the Ming Cheng Hua period are famous. Rooster cups are one of the most well-known and beautiful art pieces produced in this period. Height: 1.5 inches; diameter of mouth: 3.25 inches. Price does not include wooden stand.
