Beautiful imperial yellow saucer dish covered in a rich yellow glaze and decorated with relief biscuit decoration of dragons, on the bottom a blue underglaze Hongzhi mark and of the period. Yellow was considered the "imperial color", hence it is one of the colors most commonly employed on imperial sets, especially jars and plates, during the Ming dynasty. Of the many yellow glaze colors that were produced in the Ming dynasty, the best is described as "chicken-fat yellow".
