Description
Please note: Actual color of vase is chocolate brown. This is a very rare and important signed Gonda Japanese Cloisonne Lobbed Moriage Vase made to look like porcelain. The artist went so far as to cover the top and bottom rims in enamel to achieve the porcelain look. This technique was extremely difficult to do. This vase has six lobbed panels each worked in moriage showing alternating florals and insects in opaque and translucent enamels. This vase has a very high quality of enamel. The vase is 10" tall x 7" in diameter. There are two areas of old repair both by the upper rim (see last two photos). The larger of the two repairs is half moon in shape and starts where the arrow is pointing down (next to last photo). There are also some minor hairlines, scratches and nicks throughout the vase, the most obvious which I have photographed (3rd from last photo) The vase displays very well. This is your chance to own this vase for a fraction of what it would cost were it perfect. Please note: The arrows on photos 9 and 10 are showing you the same areas.
