Description
Thank you very much for considering this beautiful work of art.  We are now retired and must part with a collection of over 100 ivory carvings we have loved and taken care of for nearly 40 years.  We are very proud to offer only the very FINEST in QUALITY ivory carvings. This carving is 100% genuine AFRICAN ELEPHANT IVORY and in EXCELLENT CONDITION.  It was HAND CARVED and HAND SCRIMSHAWED in China by a gifted master craftsman in the early 1900s.  It has a lovely patina that nature has chosen to bestow upon it. This carving is UNIQUE and exhibits beautiful IVORY GRAIN which is guaranteed to be clearly visible.  The ivory has been highly polished and exquisitely detailed.  The quality of the ivory, the quality of the carving and the quality of the scrimshaw work are all exceptional. This carving was legally imported into the USA. This carving can only be shipped to locations within the USA. Effective January 1, 2009 Ebay will not permit ivory to be bought or sold on Ebay! In January of 2006 Columbus (the experts in Asian art) provided an auction estimate on this piece of $5,000.  Auction estimates are conservative and typically well below appraised values.   EMPEROR escorted by 3 ATTENDANTS This exquisitely carved piece depicts an Emperor in an elaborate cart flanked by 3 attendants. One attendant is pushing the cart while the other two attendants stand guard at the front of the cart.  The attendant on the left holds a sword while the attendant on the right holds a scepter. The Emperor wears traditional robes and attributes and his dress is accented by a very elaborate headdress.  The cart itself is very ornate.  There are six dragons that decorate the cart – three on each side of the Emperor.   The dragon represents male vigor and fertility and is also the imperial emblem of the Emperor.  The dragon ranks first among the four supernatural creatures. Please note the elaborate scroll work on either side of the Emperor as well as the elaborately decorated wheels of the cart. This is an incredibly substantial piece that measures 16 ½” by 13 ½” by 13” and weighs 8 ¼ pounds in total! It comes with its own custom ivory and hardwood stand that is supported by six small ivory carvings that raise the base and accentuate the stand. This magnificent carving will make a stunning addition to any a home or office and should only increase in value over time.  Dimensions: 16.50" x 13.50" x 13.00" Weight:  8 Pounds, 4 ounces   We will ship to you via USPS Priority Insured Mail.
